ABOUT THE ARTIST
From Paris to New York
Born in Paris, Amalia has studied and lived across various countries of world.
She began playing the cello at the age of 10 in England, where she embarked on her musical voyage of discovery as a young classical musician, growing up listening to a variety genres that have played an influential role in shaping her musical diversity and signature sound that has gone beyond her intensive classical training.
She began her cello studies in New York where she attended the college prep program at Mannes School of Music, of the New School. She was admitted to the excellent Conservatory at McGill University in Montreal, Canada to study classical performance and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in cello performance.
Her career as a cellist continued in Paris where she performed with Breakbot and other notorious french artists. She has performed in major Parisian venues as well as on national french television. During this time she also taught the cello to individual students at the American School of Paris.
After a few years and developing a growing side fashion career in Paris, working for designers such as Saint Laurent Paris, her experiences led her back to New York where she met and began collaborating with various musicians and artists, ranging from electronic works, to soulful pop music. Besides her own personal project she has created a brand new project with an artist and singer named Valentina Mendoza, a talented singer and songwriter from Columbia. They have been performing with growing popularity as a duet at various well known venues in New York City.
